Isis

US 'set to launch air strikes' on senior Isis leaders in Syria

RobotNickk: "Just a reminder - ISIS are not Syrian rebels, they are foreign controlled would-be imperialist invaders who came to Syria and the pretence of being helpers against Assad. Eight months ago the Syrian rebels finally had enough of their brutality and their seizing of liberated territory from rebel groups and initiated a war against them.
The rebels drove ISIS out of Idlib province and Western Aleppo province and out of Aleppo city. More recently ISIS, equipped with weapons captured in Iraq, have engaged in a successful counter offensive.
Meanwhile until the last few weeks Assad was content to leave ISIS in peace, doubtless hoping that they would help him crush the rebels. He has only started fighting them because they have been seizing his remaining bases in the east and capturing yet more large quantities of weapons. There are unconfirmed reports that they have just taken the air force base near Tabaqa in Raqqa province with the subsequent butchery of large numbers of Assad troops.
Assad has always wanted ISIS to become his main opposition so that he can look good in comparison and pose as the defender of civilization, and so gain Western support in his campaign to reimpose his Mafia gang rule over the whole of Syria.
In the meantime IS have done Assad's work by fighting the rebels and scaring off the West."
