Syrie : l’extermination chimique que prépare Bachar el-Assad

Jean-Pierre Filiu
In French.
"Three main types of scenario looming in the very near, at least more plausible horizon:
1.The Obama administration finally measuring the failure of a policy that has strengthened both Bashar al-Assad and the jihadists, decides with its allies pinpoint strikes against command centers of the regime, with a focus on the basics chemical trigger strikes. The deployment of the navy in the eastern Mediterranean seems to argue in favor of this hypothesis.
2.Syrian resistance finally gets the anti-aircraft and anti-tank weapons that was promised last year, but never delivered. This position offers the advantage of reinforcing the nationalist stance of the Syrian revolution, while allowing it to neutralize the jihadist term bid.
3.It is therefore very likely that nothing will happen noticeable except a diplomatic-military agitation largely disconnected from the developments on the ground.
"Leaks" distilled wisely will accredit the story of a covert action in the Western services, thereby justifying public passivity of their leaders. And the prohibition of Syrian land to independent investigations will pave all the conspiracy theories. Self-proclaimed Voltaire drape in their "freedom of thought" to deny the right of the Syrian people to count its own dead."
